Where to find Hope when you need Him

I was reminded Sunday evening of an experience I had years ago, at a time when I was scared and feeling blue.

It was right before a major surgery, my first, and I did not know what to expect when I woke up. I remember closing my eyes as the IV kicked in and I began to fall asleep, and praying, asking God to show me He was with me. Immediately after that thought left my mind, I felt warmly embraced in a way I had never experienced before. Safe, secure, complete taken care of.

Another way in which He loves to remind me that He is the Hope I can turn to in any circumstance is by His Word.

“We continue to shout our praise even when we’re hemmed in with troubles, because we know how troubles can develop passionate patience in us, and how that patience in turn forges the tempered steel of virtue, keeping us alert for whatever God will do next. In alert expectancy such as this, we’re never left feeling shortchanged. Quite the contrary—we can’t round up enough containers to hold everything God generously pours into our lives through the Holy Spirit!” Romans 5:4-5 MSG

Somehow, God continues to pour blessing upon those who turn to Him… through
📌giving us patience when we need it most
📌 shaping our character to resemble His (virtue)
📌building our confidence that He will move
📌pouring an overflowing amount of blessings our way through Holy Spirit

I don’t know about you, but any one of those on its own would help to boose my faith on a hard day. All four? Worth shouting His praise over, as Paul writes in the start of these verses.

Friend, depending on your version of the Bible, Hope is mentioned well over 100x. 133x in the KJV. 144x in the MSG & TPT. 146x in the NASB. 164x in the ESV & CSB. 180x in the NIV. 239x in the GNT.

If you are low in the Hope department today, try looking up the word ‘hope’ in any of the above versions of the Bible. He is waiting to be found by you!
