When dealing with FEAR, its important to notice where we are maintaining our FOCUS.
When we focus too much on the “what if’s,” we can make mountains out of molehills, and heighten things so that we can no longer see the facts.
In an unusual accident, I somehow slipped out the door of a moving car when I was a young child, with only scrapes and bruises to fortunately show for it. I had no recollection of this until God revealed it to me when I was being counseled.
But when I was faced with heights? I would immediately be whammied with an almost uncontrollable fear. This went on until I asked Holy Spirit to reveal why I had this fear, and He brought to mind the incident where I fell out of the car. The fact was – I was afraid of falling, not heights; and I was no longer 3 years old but a grown adult with children of my own.
When I was able to focus on what He was saying, He brought my fear into the light of Truth, and it lost its power as I asked Him to take it from me.
Feeling fearful? Focus on God, not your fears. Ask Him to show you the facts, the truth and what you should do next.
For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. Romans 8:5 ESV
