When we recently brought our new to us cat home, we limited its range as he isn’t used to us or our home.
In his case, too much freedom can lead to unnecessary stress for both us and the cat, as we found out when our Houdini vanished in our house today.
Similarly, when we knowingly or unknowingly move beyond the boundaries God has for us, we can end up wounded, broken, enslaved, impoverished, depressed and desperate for rescue.
In need of freedom.
The good news is: God will always come to our rescue and bring us into the freedom He has always planned for us.
Even though we may be prodigals. Sinners. Hard hearted. Rebels. Black sheep. Born on the wrong sde of the tracks. Hypocrites. Liars. Gossips. Gamblers. Workaholics. Lazy bones. Lost.
God’s wonderous plan for each of us involves setting us free from where we used to reside (the enemy’s kingdom) and moving us into His very house in heaven with Him, in His Presence!
And if that isn’t enough, He also frees us from who we used to be and speaks His name for us into our cores and spirits: Beloved. Wanted. Precious. Chosen. Lover. Son or Daughter. Valued. Handpicked. Never forgotten. Made in His image. Holy. Pure.
Wonder upon wonder!
Freedom is both His design and desire for us. His purpose and plan. His hope and ours.
Shivers of wonder travel up and down my spine each and every time I read or hear the following verses…
Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 2 Corinthians 3:17 NIV
