coming to Life again

I am entering a new season in pretty much every way possible.

Somethings are not changing so much as being transformed to what they should have been long ago, others are being left behind as I move onward towards my God.

One of the things changing is how I approach the Word.

I have allowed myself to feel “less than” in many areas, as I allowed people’s expectations to shape me instead of His.

God would rather:

  • you read the Word in any translation you choose, than not to read it.
  • you memorize it in song, writing or reciting, than not allowing it space in your mind.
  • you digest one or two or three verses slowly, and invite Holy Spirit to breathe fresh life into them, then to have you read quick chunks without the Word coming to life within you.

I love to read the Word in every version, but I particularly enjoy the Message, and the new Passion translation.

The Word comes alive for me in a very unique way when I read these two versions.

The Message was written by a pastor whose congregation wasn’t reading the Word, as they felt it was hard to do so.  So he wrote a version which is true to the original intent of the language… just as you and I put it into our own current words, with nuances of who we are reflected in our speech.

The Passion translation is being written by a bible translator for a similar reason, to reawaken or capture the passion of reading the Word into our lives.

I don’t know about you, but I need more of His life in my life every day, for each moment I live.

I remember life before He entered my heart, and I first entered His Presence. It was lonely, confusing and rudderless.

Life in His presence is anything but.

Through His Word, I am reminded:

  1. I am never alone.
  2. He knows the plans He has for me.
  3. He walks with me through the valleys and along the mountain range paths.

Yesterday, Psalm 100 caught my attention again. It came alive in a new way for me as I decided to take it to heart, and put the first verse into practice as I prepared myself for church. Just four verses, which I will share below, stirred my heart to worship and follow Him anew.

May the Word of God highlight His Words of life for you as you seek to live in Him each day.
