soaking in the Water

Yesterday, the desire to dive back in to the Word and continue to unwrap the Gift, getting to know You more, was reignited.

Psalm 63 has always been a favorite passage, but now even more so after revisiting it with a different perspective. Although it is written by David, where he wrote it caught my eye this morning. David wrote this psalm in a desert!

He gets it. Both David, as a human desperate for the quenching of his soul and body. And God, who knew parched seeking ones would read these words.

So He wove Himself into the very words we would need, so He could give us a fresh does of the water of life with Him whenever we read them.

A particular favorite worship leader of mine, Matt Brouwer, captures this psalm beautifully in his song, Water. (click here for the full song lyrics.)

May God soak in deep and refresh you again today as you allow His Word to overflow into Your heart, soul, mind, body and spirit.

Youare mywater.

You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek You; I thirst for You, my whole being longs for You,
in a dry and parched land where there is no water.  Psalm 63:1

Copy of Youare mywater.

I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld Your power and Your glory. Because Your love is better than life, my lips will glorify You. Psalm 63:2-3

Copy of Your love is better than life.

I will praise You as long as I live, and in Your name I will lift up my hands. I will be fully satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise You. Psalm 63:4-5

Copy of You uphold me.

On my bed I remember You; I think of You through the watches of the night. Because You are my help, I sing in the shadow of Your wings. Psalm 63:6-7

Copy of You satisfy

I cling to You; Your right hand upholds me. Psalm 63:8
