The past several weeks, I have been choosing to obey what I hear Him saying, even when it grates against my natural grain.
And sometimes God, sometimes this deliberate submitting to You causes me pain.
Because being remade into the likeness of You can be a challenge for the one being shaped at times. For it doesn’t come naturally, but supernaturally as You mold me with Your skillful hands.
But I put my trust in the character You reveal to me through Your Word.
Yesterday, You reminded me, as Graham Cooke likes to say, “You are the kindness person I know.”
This morning, You whispered I can trust You a little more, stretch a little further, because You are good.
The Lord is good to all, and His mercy is over all that He has made. Psalm 145:9
Your goodness is for all of us, and directed at us all. Note the verse mentions ALL twice, for God knew we would need the emphasis in days and years to come.
The truth is: in the here and now, You ARE good to all. Actively present in all Your goodness.
And because You are good, always, right here, right now – Your embrace is the best place for me to be at any and all times.
But I have a tendency to wander away when things are good, and forget that they are good because You have been good to me.
Which is why I need the constant redirection of Holy Spirit’s whispers.
You are good and do good; Teach me Your statutes. Psalm 119:68
You are so good to us You even provide all the resources we could ever need within You:
- Always present
- and the list will go on into eternity.
Today, I thank You for being good. For doing good. For showing me Your goodness is more ways than I can even comprehend.
May I reflect a shadow of Your goodness through my life, as I continue to unwrap the gift that is You all the days I have.
