You cannot fly from the comfort of the nest.
Bishop Kenneth Ulmer
I love staying under covers, safe and warm in my cozy nest of a home.
I also love soaking in His Presence, letting everything else fade into the background as He is all I see.
Yet God has called me to be in the world, just not of it. Which means stepping out of my comfort zones as I follow where He is leading me.
For years I allowed the fears of ‘what if’ to dampen my excitement of trying new things.
○What if I fail?
○What if no one else likes it?
○What if it’s too far fetched?
All those years spent focusing on the what if instead of the who….
●Who holds me tight in His capable hands?
●Who keeps me safe throughout the storms and difficult seasons?
●Who has never failed me nor let me down?
●Who knows me even better than I know myself?
●Who instilled these dreams and talents in me?
Who shows me the next step out of the nest of the familiar as I trust the hand of the One who guides me?
Instead of focusing on what I don’t know, I need to be focusing on who I do know.
My loving wise Abba.
My shepherd redeemer Jesus.
My guiding ever present Holy Spirit.
As familiar as the ‘same old same old’ can become, it doesn’t stir anywhere near the thrill of stepping out as God’s got me into the wonder of something new.
What wonders await you too as you leave your nest?
It took me quite a while to grasp that we are always in His embrace, nestled into the crook of His arm, safely kept close beside Him.
And because He holds me so, I can step out into the unknown.
For I may not know what is up ahead, but the One who knows me best and knows all the rest?
He does. And He chooses to stick by me as together we leave the comfort of the past behind, and face the new dawning up ahead.
So I will choose the safety of Your arms over the comfort of my nest.
As I obediently hand over my fears and trepidations, You infuse me with Your rest, peace and love in exchange.
Making me better equipped and prepared for what is ahead, and ever more trusting in the One accompanying me there.
Safe in Your hands, always.
