As this world keeps spinning, searching, always seeking the next best thing, I can easily get caught up in the swirl of the chase.
God reminded me that I am not to run the race the world asks me to, chasing what is built on shifting sand but to trust in Him as my Rock, my firm foundation.
The reason? He never changes.
His love for His creation has never ceased.
His desire for restoration ever stands.
His grip on those who hold on tight never lets go.
His passion for holiness endures.
God deciding to send Jesus down to live with us, God in our midst, was always part of His plan. He wasn’t surprised by the fall, but saddened. He has continued to woo and reach out to all people even since, for His love endures forever.
In the Old Testament, He actually tells us He never changes:
He is constant in His Person, His affections, His character, His standards.
From everlasting to everlasting, He was, is and always shall be!
Jesus demonstrated this never changing aspect to God in how He lived amongst us.
And how He shows up in the lives of those who encounter Him, like Paul.
Paul (when he was known formerly as Saul) was tenacious in his pursuit of God’s people until he met Jesus in a blinding collision of Presence. Jesus revealed Himself to Paul in a such a way that Saul became Paul, one of the greatest evangelists to ever follow Jesus.
When the temporary meets the never changing eternal, we are changed.
When i met Jesus, I was an emotional wreck, insecure, extremely hard on myself, sunk into a pit of my own making. Barely holding it all together, I was firmly in the clutches of full blown survival as I tried to contain my shattered heart.
The difference He has made in my life since I encountered Him reveals more about His character than mine. Those qualities about me that people love?
They reflect the One who is constantly changing us to become more like Him, the never changing One.
The more we spend time with Him, the more our faith and trust can grow to believe He has good things in store for us, and always has!
And what makes it easiest?
Knowing the One I love, the One i choose to pour my life out for in an offering of gratitude, never changes.
His love for me is constant. Nothing I can do will cause Him to love me more, or less.
His plan for me will come to pass, if I am following Him as my guide.
My hope is found in the only One who never changes, who always stays Himself:
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Hebrews 13:8 ESV
For Jesus doesn’t change—yesterday, today, tomorrow, he’s always totally himself. Hebrews 13:8 MSG
